Candidates for Student Representative 2009-10

The 3 candidates for the position of student representative (2009-10) were Aga Burzynska, Shannon Kolind, and Silun Wang.  Read on for a short statement from each candidate.  The election is over: view the result.

Aga Burzynska
Max Plank Institute in Berlin, Germany
Aga Burzynska is a PhD candidate with Professors Hauke Heekeren and Ulman Lindenberger at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, Germany (Max Planck International Research School on the Life Course). She uses DT-MRI to investigate the associations between healthy aging, white matter microstructure, cognitive performance, and brain function.

Shannon Kolind
University of Oxford, UK
Shannon completed her PhD in Physics under the supervision of Dr Alex MacKay at the University of British Columbia, implementing and developing multi-echo T2 relaxation at 3.0T as well as comparing T2 relaxation and diffusion metrics in white matter with a focus on MS. Shannon is presently pursuing a PostDoc under Dr. Heidi Johansen-Berg and Dr Sean Deoni at the University of Oxford. Shannon has been a member of the WMSG for a millennia and helped organize the WMSG workshop in Vancouver.

Silun Wang
University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Silun Wang is a PhD candidate with Dr Pek-lan Khong at The University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong.  His current work is focused on diffusion tensor MR imaging with application to detect white matter injury in animal models.  He has been a member of the WMSG since attending the 2008 ISMRM in Toronto.  He has presented his work at ISMRM meetings.
