Winner of the WMSG Poster Competition at ISMRM 2009

The winner of the 2009 WMSG student poster competition was Hesam Jahanian, of the University of Michigan.  His e-poster entitled "White matter tractography by diffusion tensor imaging in Insular Epilepsy" (Proceedings, 3414), produced in collaboration with colleagues Elisevich, Yazdan-Shahmorad, and Soltanian-Zadeh, reported the results of a study of subinsular white matter using DTI and tractography in patients with insular epilepsy.

Hesam was presented with a copy of the book "Principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging - A Signal Processing Perspective", by Liang and Lauterbur.

Selection of the winner was no easy task, as all four finalists gave very clear presentations and demonstrated excellent knowledge of their work.  It was very interesting to see diversity in the methods and focus of the work presented (each of the four finalists focused on different aspects of MR in WM and/or pathology).  Sincere thanks go to the other two judges: Greg Stanisz and Shannon Kolind .

Congratulations once again to Hesam, and to the other finalists, Erin MacMillan (U. of Bern), Nino Hernandez (U. of Guanajuato) and Ivan Kirov (NYU).
